“Parenting is never supposed to be done alone, in isolation. We need each other; we need that constant support and wisdom from women around us who have been there and done it and found a method that worked”.
About Us
The Little Ones™ Story
We are Amanda and Nicky. Mothers, lifelong friends and founders of Little Ones.
We first met as teenagers at high school in Auckland, New Zealand; Amanda loved the Spice Girls, and Nicky's school skirt was way too short. After leaving school, life took us in different directions for a while - Amanda pursued a career in the medical field, while Nicky studied education and developmental psychology. We both traveled, worked, and achieved success in our chosen professions, while staying connected and keeping an eye on each other's progress through life. Some years later, as we started families of our own, our paths naturally crossed again. With newborns in tow, our close friendship reignited around the shared challenges of parenthood.
Over time, through raising our older children (Nicky has three, Amanda has two), we had each navigated almost every possible baby sleep scenario. We had researched, trialed, and refined different routines. We'd supported friends, family, and fellow parents along the way, building up a wealth of practical knowledge. By the time our youngest babies arrived ("the little ones" - within 6 weeks of each other), our combined experience was extensive - ranging from reflux and colic to pacifiers and allergies, from babies who wouldn’t settle to babies who slept too much.
Naturally, our conversations turned into a 24/7 exchange of ideas, tips, and problem-solving and we wondered if this information would be valuable to other mothers too...
The idea for Little Ones was born.
From Idea to Reality
Having both used private sleep consultants, we knew the strengths and the gaps in the baby sleep industry. We believed families everywhere deserved access to affordable, reliable, and instant resources that would continue to be relevant as babies grew and changed.
With Amanda’s medical background and Nicky’s expertise in education and child development, we discovered we had a unique skill set. Together, we spent months researching, writing, and refining what became the first Sleeping and Feeding Guides. Soon after, we added Settling and Self-Settling methods, bundling it all up and creating comprehensive Sleep Programs that were available as PDF downloads.
Building a Community
As our methods gained popularity, and to our great surprise, Little Ones expanded beyond New Zealand to families in Australia, the UK, the USA, and around the world. Alongside our programs, we developed a series of white noise tracks, Perfect Sounds for Baby Sleep, now available on iTunes, Google Play, and Spotify.
Before long, the growth of our community also meant growing our team. Today, Little Ones has multiple certified sleep consultants working alongside families, offering guidance and compassion to thousands of parents every day.
Evolution
As demand grew, it became clear that the PDF programs needed to evolve. Parents wanted something more dynamic, something they could carry with them and use in real time. So we took the leap and transformed our sleep guides into the very first baby sleep app on the market.
The Little Ones Baby Sleep App has since brought our methods to life in a whole new way.
It delivers age-based, customized schedules in our innovative 'Sleep o Rhythm' (the Little Ones sleep algorithm), feeding and sleep guidance and advice, settling and self-settling techniques, comprehensive troubleshooting, sleep/feed/diaper tracker and analysis and so much more, all instantly accessible at a parent’s fingertips.
Unlike static PDFs, the app adapts as babies grow, providing relevant developmental updates and age-appropriate guidance. We also built in troubleshooting tips for common challenges, notifications and reminders, and access to our supportive 'Village' community (which houses our Sleep Consultants) - all in one place.
The app was designed to feel like a sleep manual or a consultant in your pocket, offering reassurance and practical tools whenever parents needed them, day or night. It has since become an indispensable resource for families worldwide, simplifying the journey through baby sleep and making expert guidance both affordable and accessible.
Recognition and Growth
Little Ones is endorsed by Dr Kate Johnson (Ph.D. Sleep Physiology, Harvard Medical School and SRI). The company is also an accredited member of the International Association of Child Sleep Consultants, with the team trained in sleep neurology, behavior, and age-appropriate settling methods. Amanda and Nicky have completed training with Dr Harvey Karp (Happiest Baby on the Block) and regularly attend international pediatric sleep conferences to ensure our methods remain current and evidence-based. Where We Are Today
To date, Little Ones has helped more than 800,000 families worldwide. Despite our growth, our mission has stayed the same: to empower parents with confidence, provide tools that work, and ultimately help everyone get more sleep.
We are proud to say we are just two mums from New Zealand. No venture capital company, no big backing; we're not in it to line pockets of rich businessmen.
And our story is still being written - because parenthood never stands still, and neither do we.

Welcome to Little Ones, Where Your Family Comes First
At Little Ones, we understand that parenthood is a journey filled with love, challenges, and countless moments of joy. Our company values shape everything we do, from the significant decisions to the everyday interactions between our dedicated staff and our cherished customers.
Our Values:
- Creativity: Nurturing innovative solutions for your parenting needs.
- Integrity: Building trust through transparency and reliability.
- Positivity: Cultivating a joyful and encouraging community.
- Honesty: Offering sincere and straightforward support.
- Empowerment: Equipping you with the knowledge and tools for confident parenting.
- Compassion: Understanding and addressing your unique concerns with empathy.
- Family: Celebrating the importance of family in every aspect of our services.
Our Philosophy:
At Little Ones, we believe in a holistic approach to sleep, recognizing the delicate balance between daytime naps, night time sleep, awake periods, feeding routines, and the ability to settle. By considering how these elements work together, we aim to promote restful sleep for your little one.
With small, manageable adjustments to your baby's daily and nightly routines, we strive to enhance sleep patterns in a gentle, responsive, and age-appropriate manner.
Key Focus Areas in Our Sleep Programs:
- Awake Windows: Ensuring your baby has the right balance of activity and rest.
- Ideal Nap Structure: Crafting a nap schedule that supports overall well-being.
- Suggested Feed Times: Aligning feeding times to support better sleep.
- Settling/Self-Settling: Encouraging your baby to fall asleep independently.
- Sleep Environment: Creating a conducive atmosphere for restful sleep.
Between 0-3 Months:
In these early months, it's perfectly okay to help your baby fall asleep completely. Utilize swaddling, white noise, a dark room, and a calming wind-down routine to signal sleep time.
Between 3-6 Months:
After four months, self-settling becomes more important. If your baby struggles with self-settling, gradually reduce active settling methods to give them the opportunity to fall asleep independently. Our Self Settling methods, combined with our Sleeping and Feeding Schedules, will guide your baby towards self-settling.
Over 6 Months:
At this stage, your baby is more aware, and any changes to their sleep routine might be met with some resistance. Self-settling is crucial now, and with your guidance, your little one can learn to sleep independently, improving both naps and nighttime sleep. Our Self Settling methods, integrated with our Sleeping and Feeding Schedules, provide a comprehensive approach to effective self-settling beyond traditional sleep training.
Join the Little Ones Family:
We are here to support you every step of the way, offering personalized guidance and a community that understands the unique joys and challenges of motherhood. Let’s make your parenting journey a little smoother, one restful night at a time.

Charlotte Jacobs
"I cannot thank you enough. We were really struggling with getting baby to nap anywhere but on us which was making it hard to look after my toddler and manage her jealousy & night wakings were frequent. Since putting the schedule in place, she has dropped to only 1 night feed and she naps in her cot; all it needed was schedule tweaks & tips rather than “sleep training”. I now get time to spend with my other daughter who is no longer insanely jealous but a proud big sister and we are a very happy family."

"This is a guide every expectant new mum should have from day one. Despite reading a lot on baby sleep before giving birth, putting this into action when exhausted from birth and a new born is a whole other ball game. I've already recommended Little Ones for three expectant mums, as I wish I'd had the guides to hand from day one. Babies are tricky little critters! And Little Ones has taken all the knowledge and thinking for new parents, and placed it into a easy to digest, supportive service. Love the videos, so many topics covered and I really trust Nicky and Amandas advise as experienced parents."

"Bought the program as we started going through the 4 month sleep regression. We’ve been using now for a month and it has made a huge difference. Our little one puts herself to sleep and is able to self soothe most of the time! Love the wide variety of methods presented and the flexibility offered by this program. Didn’t want to do a harsh cry it out type program, and this ended up being a great fit for our family!"
